Below is a list of abbreviations I'll be using frequently on this website. Most couponing blogs follow this same 'Bible' of abbreviations religiously, so I hope you find this list helpful!
B1G1 - Buy One, Get One
Blinkie or Blinkies - Coupons located by the corresponding product that print out of a machine. The machines usually have a red blinking light on top, thus the name. Pretty clever.
BOGO - Buy One, Get One
CAT - Short for Catalina. This is a coupon that prints out from a store register.
EXP - Expiration Date
IP - Short for Internet Printable. Coupons that you can print online.
MFR - Manufacturer
MIR - Mail in Rebate
MQ - Manufacturer Coupon
OOP - Out of Pocket
Peelie - Coupons that you peel off of a product. Pretty original, right?
PG - Proctor & Gamble. (Sunday Paper Coupon Booklet)
Q - Coupon
RC - Rain Check
RP - Red Plum. You can receive these coupon inserts either in a Sunday paper or through the mail.
SAHM - Stay at Home Mom
SS - Smart Source. You can find this coupon insert in the Sunday Paper.
Stacking - Using a manufacturer coupon & a store coupon on the same product. Some stores allow this.
Stockpiling - Where couponers store what they buy in bulk. Store sales usually follow 3 month cycles meaning that if a product (i.e. cereal) is on sale, then it might be a good idea to stock up when the price is at rock bottom enough to last you 3 months until that same item goes on sell again.
Tear Pad - A pad of coupons hanging by the corresponding product that you simply tear off.
WYB - When You Buy
YMMV - Your Mileage May Vary. ("Worked for me, may not work for you") type of deal.
